Training Institute

The McCarton Training Institute addresses the shortage of trained autism practitioners through workshops for professionals and parents, presentations at regional and national conferences, and semester-long internships in ABA and occupational therapy.

The McCarton Training Institute offers hands-on training and educational opportunities to professionals, parents, and caregivers. The mission of the Training Institute is to ameliorate the shortage of trained autism practitioners and caregivers through several avenues.

As a demonstration site for more than 40 students of special education annually, The McCarton Training Institute instructs future professionals in cutting-edge techniques and practices in autism education. The Institute also offers semester-long internships in Applied Behavioral Analysis and occupational therapy for four to six undergraduate and graduate students each year, allowing them to work with some of the most respected professionals in the field. Many of The Institute's interns have gone on to work for The McCarton Research Center, The McCarton School, and other prestigious autism programs.

In addition to making presentations at conferences and workshops and serving as guest lecturers at universities, The McCarton Institute's staff provides consulting and training services to schools that serve children with autism. Other goals of The Institute are to train via internet conferencing those who are unable to visit the McCarton facilities and create a series of instructional videos on the educational practices that are most effective for children with autism.
