Expansion Inspired by Growth

It is the McCarton Foundation’s priority to complete the search for a new and larger
space that will allow for continued growth in fulfillment of its mission.

Over the past seven years, McCarton School enrollment has been increased from 12 to 28 students in an attempt to meet the overwhelming number of requests for admission. To maintain The School’s one-to-one student to teacher ratio, it has increased its staff to 48 full-time employees and hired additional ABA therapists for afternoon classes. The McCarton School’s charter has also been extended to serve students up to age 17. To meet the needs of these older children, The School’s curricula have been expanded to include group academic work and pre-vocational activities. The McCarton Center for Research has also grown significantly. Three research projects are currently ongoing and the Center has been awarded a grant from the Organization for Autism Research.

All these changes have taken place in the same 8,000-square-foot space that once accommodated a much smaller number of students and employees. Due to a lack of adequate classroom, conference, and office space, The Foundation is unable to make vital expansions of its administrative infrastructure or take on as many college and graduate students as it would like for The Training Center’s autism education training programs.

The McCarton Foundation is currently searching for a 35,000-square-feet space in Manhattan to house its administrative staff, The McCarton School, The McCarton Center for Research, and The McCarton Training Institute. The McCarton Foundation is proud of its growth and committed to transitioning to a new facility.
